Clases & Small Groups Resume May23, Updated Face Covering Guidance
Facilities Re-Entry Team consisting of: Don and Carol Wilson, Bill Jeffreys, Dana Lobaugh, Paul Shannon, Rex Stewart, Lyn Herring, Jill Samuelson, Carol Neff, and Dan Casto met May 14, 2021 to consider the most recent COVID-19 guidance.
In accordance with recent Centers for Disease Control guidance, adults who have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 may participate in indoor or outdoor gatherings at First Christian Church-Arlington without wearing a mask. Also, physical distancing will no longer be required.
Adults and children who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 should continue to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth, and to practice physical distancing when gathering with other individuals.
So, this means that starting next Sunday, if you are fully vaccinated, it is your choice whether to wear a mask at FCC worship services. If you choose to continue wearing a face covering, that is fine. It is never “wrong” or “inappropriate” to wear a mask when around others, and it is perfectly acceptable to continue practicing physical distancing.
While we are changing some things, we will continue to stream our worship services, and will continue to welcome those who may not physically be able to make it to the church, or those who are not yet ready to congregate with a large number of people. We warmly invite them to join us virtually, as they are an important part of our church family.
But wait, there is more …
In addition to addressing the mask issue, the Re-Entry Team also decided that with the number of people who have now been vaccinated, and with the new CDC guidance, adult Sunday School classes should be allowed to resume meeting within our building. So, starting next Sunday, May 23, adult Sunday school classes will meet at 9:00 a.m., followed by worship in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m. This is a change from what was published in The Friend this week, but we hope it is a change you will welcome. Decisions about children’s Sunday school and Worship and Wonder are pending, while input is gathered from parents.
The Facilities Re-Entry Team hopes that you will rejoice with us in these major steps toward normalization of life at FCC. So next Sunday — Pentecost Sunday — wear something red, to help celebrate the Church’s birthday. And wear a big smile for all to see!
